If your sites are mostly static, maybe try Netlify (it’s free for static hosting).
One thing to keep in mind—if you get DDoS attacked on a home network, it can take down your entire internet connection.
Using a VPS is a better route, plus you still get the full setup experience. You can even test it on a Pi if you want that hands-on approach.
Just be aware of home network vulnerabilities. A compromised server on your internal network can be used to snoop for sensitive data.
