Hey guys, I’m looking into hosting options and wondering if there are any providers out there that offer unlimited bandwidth and storage without any sneaky limitations. Also, I’m fed up with the usual tactic where they lure you in with a super low rate for the first year, then jack up the price when it’s time to renew.
If there’s anyone out there who’s not trying to pull a fast one, I’m also curious about who offers the most affordable renewal rates. I’m just setting up a basic personal HTML site on my own domain. My current provider wants $60 to renew for one year, but I’m hoping to find something cheaper.
Budget-wise, I’m aiming for $5 per month or less. I’m based in the USA, and my site won’t have much traffic at all.
The reality is, especially nowadays, you might sign up for a 1 or 2-year “special deal,” only to face significantly higher renewal prices later on. For instance, providers like Siteground often impose steep increases at renewal.
However, like with any service, there’s usually an introductory offer, the key is to compare and explore different options before committing.
To be frank, companies that engage in these practices are unethical and shouldn’t be supported. Deals like a three-year plan for $2 per month with “unlimited” storage are damaging to the industry.
EDIT: Look for providers that avoid these tactics. They’re the ones worth supporting in the long run.
