The autossl certificate expired overnight, but other domains on this server are still fine. We’re using cPanel’s Sectigo.
Running /usr/local/cpanel/bin/autossl_check --user=USERNAME manually gives this error:
AutoSSL failed to request an SSL certificate for “DOMAIN” due to an error: (XID XXXXXX) The response to the HTTP “POST” request from “https://store.cpanel.net/json-api/ssl/certificate/free” returned an error (403, Forbidden): <!DOCTYPE html>
I’m getting the exact same error today. Did you find a fix for it? I don’t remember making any changes to the htaccess or anything.
Edit: I found a page that suggested upgrading cPanel might solve the problem. I was on an older version, like 94-something, and after upgrading, I think it fixed my issue too.
The error is pretty clear. You’ve probably protected this domain through htaccess or some other setting. Check the rules you have in place and make the necessary fixes.
