I recently pointed a domain from GoDaddy to a Google Sites page, and everything is working fine. However, during the setup, I deleted the CNAME record _domainconnect.gd.domaincontrol.com in GoDaddy’s DNS. Do I need this record? Could it cause issues in the future?
It’s not an essential record.
This CNAME is mainly used to let other service providers know you’re a GoDaddy customer. It allows them to make DNS changes for you automatically, instead of you having to do it manually.
I usually remove it because I prefer handling those changes myself.
Ahh ok. Thanks for the clear explanation and the link!
Could it cause issues in the future?
With GoDaddy? Probably Yes.
Gotcha I guess I can just add it back.
