I’m transferring a domain from WIX to GoDaddy, which takes 7 days. I plan to use the domain with code I’ve already got on Cpanel. Once the transfer is complete, what do I need to do to link the Cpanel account (purchased through GoDaddy) to my domain?
Honestly, I’d recommend avoiding GoDaddy. There are better domain and hosting providers like PorkBun or Namecheap. GoDaddy’s high ranking is often due to their strong affiliate program, not great service. You can find plenty of negative reviews about them if you search around.

I’ve already started the process with GoDaddy, so I’m kind of stuck at this point. Do you think it’ll be a hassle down the road?

It’s not impossible to manage with GoDaddy, but you might run into issues like bad customer service or performance problems. If you’re already in the process, maybe stick with it for now, but I’d suggest keeping an eye on things and maybe planning for a switch in the future.
Seven days? That sounds odd. You should be able to transfer it yourself much faster.

Yeah, I thought it was strange too, but that’s what GoDaddy’s support told me. I might try and speed it up if possible.

Try checking if WIX lets you unlock the domain and get the transfer code quicker. The process shouldn’t take more than a couple of days, max.
Think twice before going with GoDaddy. There are many better-managed cPanel hosting providers with excellent support that you might want to consider instead.

Unfortunately, I’m already midway through the transfer. What are some better hosting providers for cPanel that I could look into for future reference?

If you’re looking for managed cPanel hosting, I’d recommend providers like SiteGround or A2 Hosting. They have solid reputations, better support, and more features for a similar price point.
The transfer shouldn’t take 7 days, at most 5, but usually, it can be done in a few hours. Once your domain is transferred to GoDaddy, just set up your cPanel account and import the site.
Quick tip: Avoid hosting and registering your domain with the same provider—it’s a security risk.
Source: I run a domain recovery service.

Thanks for the tip. I’ll try to keep hosting and domain registration separate in the future. Just curious, why is it a security risk?

If your hosting provider also controls your domain, they can hold it hostage if you ever run into billing or service disputes. It’s always safer to have your domain registered with a different company than your hosting provider.
I wouldn’t recommend GoDaddy. I’ve had bad experiences with them, and their practices are questionable. I’d suggest looking elsewhere for hosting.

What kind of problems did you have with them?

Mainly terrible customer support and frequent outages. They also try to upsell unnecessary services. Overall, it just wasn’t worth the hassle for me.
