I am new to web hosting, are these GoDaddy prices normal or high?

Hey,

My wife’s company is hosted by GoDaddy, and I’ve noticed that the charges are quite high. We’re paying $180 per year for the website and $190 per year for three employee emails: $70 for the first, $70 for the second, and $50 for the third. The total seems steep, but I’m new to this.

I understand the website costs $180 annually, but the email charges seem excessive. I have looked at old articles online, but I still feel confused. Can anyone shed some light on whether these costs are typical and if there are cheaper alternatives?

Thanks…

Those GoDaddy prices seem pretty high, especially for email. There are definitely cheaper options out there. Check out Google Workspace or Microsoft 365 for email, and compare hosting prices with providers like Bluehost or SiteGround

First and foremost, please, for your own protection, avoid using Godaddy. For three years, I had to deal with them in every manner, and every moment was terrible. Visit somewhere else, really. They are a branding company, but they also do some shoddy side work.

I recently helped my wife review her business’s hosting and email costs, and I noticed similar high charges with GoDaddy. The website cost of $180 per year is fairly standard, but the email fees do seem excessive. Many other hosting providers offer better deals, often including free email with the hosting package. For example, Google Workspace or Microsoft 365 offers robust email services at about $6 per user per month. Additionally, providers like Bluehost and SiteGround offer competitive hosting rates with free or low-cost email options. It might be worth comparing these alternatives to see if you can save on those email costs.
