My website is constantly slow, the tech support is useless, and now my site has been down for hours. The people at @bluehosthelp on Twitter are gaslighting me, saying it’s only been 30 minutes (even though the timestamps prove otherwise).
Anyway, my site is WordPress on Bluehost. Is it easy to move? It’s just a portfolio site for a small business, so cost is a concern, but uptime is obviously important too.
I can look up recommendations for new hosts, but are there good guides or easy ways to migrate? I spent weeks setting this thing up and don’t have the time, patience, or money to start from scratch.
Also, just adding to other discussions—yes, Bluehost is terrible.
I just moved away from Bluehost, and it’s one of the best decisions I’ve made. The new host handled everything for me—all I had to do was give them my Bluehost login details and they took care of the migration. Honestly, I wish I’d done it sooner.

Wait, really? They moved the website, emails, everything? That almost sounds too good to be true (I got a bunch of DMs after this post, but most of them seemed shady).

It’s not a scam! A lot of hosts offer free cPanel-to-cPanel migrations, and Bluehost uses cPanel, so moving to another host that also uses cPanel is super easy.
Many managed WordPress hosts have migration tools or offer migration services when you sign up. It can be a pretty smooth process, especially if you’re feeling nervous about doing it yourself.

That’s good to know. My initial searches made it seem like I needed to handle backups and all that.
I thought JetPack was backing things up for me, but now I’m not so sure.
I’ve got 17 months left on my Bluehost contract, but I’m tempted to just leave after my next paycheck.

Yeah, tools like JetPack or other migration plugins can create backups that you can move to the new host.
But if it’s something you’re nervous about, definitely check with your new host to see if they’ll handle the migration for you.
I had a similar experience with ESG hosts. Switched to SiteGround, and I’ve been happy ever since. No issues with big conglomerate hosting companies there.

You’ll need a backup if your site is currently down, but most providers will move your entire site and emails for free.
Make sure you always have an offline backup in the future. Updraft Pro for WordPress can do this for you.
Also, remember that the cheapest host isn’t always the best option.

Nixihost has been incredible for me! Their speeds are insanely fast, and they migrated my site for free. Their support team is excellent, and I’ve had almost no downtime. If you’re looking for a reliable hosting provider, give Nixihost a try. You won’t regret it!
