Do people still find Postal’s politically incorrect humour to be amusing and enjoyable in spite of changing cultural sensitivities and the game’s changing tone over time? While Postal’s latter releases appear to have toned down contentious elements in order to appeal to a wider audience and prevent reaction, critics contend that the series’ earlier installments thrived on shock value and parody of society standards. What do you think of this change in strategy, and does it impact the fundamental aspect of the game which is a thought-provoking satire?
I think that the two best games are that and Postal 2. The fact that they are the only two who use the school computer could also contribute to this. Yes, at school I play postal. Mind yo business.
I see your reasoning if you’re referring to the first postal’s seriousness. Although the Postal Dude that was there was a little insane, he was also spitting out one-liners, much like in Postal 2, but with a darker tone. There, he is the most laid back. However, I can see your point on the surface.
As cultural sensitivities have evolved, the gaming industry has become more aware of the potential backlash that can arise from content perceived as offensive or inappropriate. This has led to a toning down of contentious elements in more recent “Postal” releases
While I can’t endorse playing games at school (teachers might not be chill about it!), I hear you on limited options. Out of the two, Postal 2 is definitely the more popular one.
Just a heads up, Postal 2 is known for being…well, a bit wild. It’s got dark humor and violence, so maybe keep it on the down-low at school
