Is there any real downside to shutting down SSHD?
I’ve been seeing a lot of login attempts. Everything is secure, but I’m wondering if it’s worth closing off SSH if I don’t need it.

I had a similar issue a while back. I just changed the SSH port and blocked the default one in the firewall. That stopped all the attempts for me
Closing SSHD completely isn’t a great idea… I’d recommend changing the SSH port and using key-based authentication for added security.
There are plenty of ways to lock down SSHD. Sometimes it’s even fun to mess with the hackers a bit!
