Looking for Free/Cheap Email Forwarding after Switching to Web.com

I have a couple of domains that I used to manage through Dotster (who originally took over from my previous registrar). Dotster allowed me to set up email forwarding, so I could forward addresses like bob@mydomain.net and taxes@mydomain.net to my personal email.

After Dotster was acquired by Web.com, I renewed my domains at a higher rate, but they removed the email forwarding option. Now they want $14.99/year for each address for email forwarding.

Does anyone know of a good, free or inexpensive service for domain email forwarding? I’ve seen ImprovMX recommended online. Any feedback on them or other suggestions?

I run ForwardMX, which starts at $30 per year for email forwarding. We also offer domain registration, so you could transfer your domains to us and might save money over your current setup.

You could try forwardemail.net; they offer a free service.

Just a heads up, Web.com has owned Dotster for quite some time now but has only recently consolidated many of their brands. Newfold Digital (the parent company) is known for buying companies with strong reputations and, unfortunately, letting quality slip over time.

In the long run, you might want to look at a new registrar that includes email forwarding. When you transfer a domain, it typically costs, but the registration time is added to what you have left (up to 10 years).

Switching could save you money and give you better service. Many registrars include free email forwarding with your domain registration.

Thanks, that’s probably what I’ll do eventually. Do you have any registrar recommendations that include email forwarding?

If you’re only doing basic email forwarding, I’d recommend Porkbun. They offer forwarding right away if you don’t want to transfer your domain immediately.

For more advanced forwarding, Cloudflare offers email forwarding with a bit more customization, or you could look into a dedicated service. But even in that case, I’d still go with Porkbun as the registrar.
