Quick question: Will my email domain be exactly the same as the domain I buy?

Hi, I’m setting up a business email and looking to buy a domain, but I won’t be building any websites—just using it for email.

My question is: Does it matter what the ending of my domain is? For example, if I buy @company.li, and I use Google Workspace for email, will my email be name@company.li or name@company.li.com?

Sorry if this sounds like a silly question! I don’t have any IT background and got confused reading up on all the technical stuff.

If you buy company.li, your email address will be name@company.li — there won’t be a .com added at the end.

Exactly this. Best and simplest answer.

Yes, the structure is:
(domain).(tld)

You can make as many subdomains as you like:

(subdomain).(domain).(tld)

For example:

subdomain.example.com is part of example.com

deep.subdomain.example.com is also part of example.com

So, company.li.com would be part of li.com, which is a separate domain that costs a lot.

If you buy example.com, that’s the domain you own. If you buy example.li, your email will be example.li. If you want different domains, you’ll need to purchase each one separately.
