Many web hosts boast about having SSD hosting, but is it truly faster or better than regular hosting, in my opinion? SSD seems to be most typically boasted about by shared hosting, while enterprise-level users don’t seem to use it as much.
Or perhaps my interpretation of what I have seen is incorrect.
I managed to run a 16-player CS: GO server on my Ramnode with just a single core and 128MB of RAM.
SSDs excel at many tasks. You can set up a high-performance web server with minimal CPU and memory requirements using a stack like nginx/gunicorn/python with SQLite, thanks to their incredibly fast disk speeds.
It depends on your specific task, but it can be useful for various IO-related functions, especially if you’re working with a database-intensive application.
In my view, they provide no real advantage for a well-configured site. Instead, save your money, load as much as you can from a memory cache, and spend just $10 a month on Maxcdn. This approach will be faster.
