WARNING: GreenGeeks Will Continue Auto-Renew Even After Transferring Services!

I had my domain name and web hosting with GreenGeeks for several years. Before the renewal this year, I canceled the hosting and transferred the domain registration to another provider. My website is now fully up and running with the new host and domain service. Then, out of the blue, I received an email from GreenGeeks saying, “Thank you for your payment” for the domain!

I contacted GreenGeeks to request a refund, explaining that I had already transferred the domain and had it registered through another company. Their response was frustrating—they sent a long email stating that they “did not receive your Cancellation Request,” that “It is not possible to turn off the auto-renew function,” and “Regretfully, refunds are not available on service renewals.”

Basically, they blamed me for not explicitly sending them a “cancellation request” for a service I had already transferred. It’s ridiculous! I’m currently disputing the charge with my credit card.

If you have services through GreenGeeks, make sure to send a separate, explicit cancellation request for each service, even if you transfer them.
