Hey folks
I’m setting up a new website for my small biz and trying to pick a web host. I keep hearing about EIG (Endurance International Group) because they own a bunch of popular hosts like Bluehost, HostGator, and SiteGround.
Before I decide, I thought I’d ask for some real-world feedback here.
Has anyone used any of these EIG-owned hosts? I’m curious about:
- Performance: Are they reliable and fast?
- Customer Support: How’s their support if you run into problems?
- Value for Money: Are their prices fair for what you get? * Upselling and Hidden Fees: Did you run into any sneaky upselling or unexpected charges?
I’d love to hear your experiences—good or bad.
Thanks a bunch…
When I first started my small business, I chose Bluehost, an EIG-owned host, because it was widely recommended and seemed affordable. Initially, the performance was decent, with reliable uptime, but as my site grew, I noticed occasional slowdowns, especially during traffic spikes. Customer support was hit or miss—sometimes helpful, other times frustratingly slow. The pricing was fair at first, but I encountered unexpected upsells and renewal fees that were much higher than the introductory rates. I eventually switched to a different host after realizing the value didn’t match what I was paying. If you’re just starting out, these hosts might work, but be wary of the long-term costs and potential performance issues as your site grows.
