What's the best way to acquire a domain that's parked for free by GoDaddy?

Hey there,
Why does GoDaddy display a parked page for the specific domain I want to buy, redirecting me to their Domain Buy Service? Can I acquire the domain without using their service, or should I proceed with purchasing it from GoDaddy? Additionally, if I buy it from them, will I have the option to transfer it to another registrar?

According to GoDaddy’s parked page, the domain is probably owned but not in use. To buy it without using GoDaddy’s services, you can try getting in touch with the existing owner directly. According to ICANN regulations, if you purchase a name from GoDaddy, you have sixty days to transfer it to another registrar.

When GoDaddy displays a parked page for a specific domain and redirects you to their Domain Buy Service, it usually means the domain is registered but not actively used. To acquire such a domain, you can use GoDaddy’s Domain Buy Service, where they negotiate with the owner on your behalf for a fee; contact the owner directly if their WHOIS information is available, saving broker fees but requiring negotiation skills; or wait and monitor for the domain’s expiration and potential availability. Once you acquire the domain, you generally have the option to transfer it to another registrar after a 60-day holding period. In my experience, using GoDaddy’s Domain Buy Service was efficient for securing a domain, and after the mandatory holding period, I successfully transferred it to my preferred registrar without any issues, highlighting the service’s convenience for difficult negotiations.

Have you looked up who owns the website?

If it’s parked, someone owns it—either to sell it later for more money or to keep others from using it.
