What's the modern version of geocities?

back in the day, i had a free website on geocities that was super easy to use for uploading html files, images, and all that. does anything similar still exist now?

neocities is probably the closest thing to geocities!

https://neocities.org/

maybe google sites?

if you’re okay spending a couple bucks a month, you can get shared hosting that works similarly.

wordpress.com might be a good free option, but you’ll have to work within their limits.

it’s kind of restrictive, to be honest. i used it a few years ago and wasn’t a fan.

1mb.co and neocities are both good options.

wordpress

facebook groups have kind of taken over the visitor experience geocities once offered, even though they lack the same creative freedom.

not really the same. geocities was all about hosting personal websites, not social groups.

neocities is great for this!
