Which Country Should I Prefer for My Web Hosting Server?

Hello forum members,

I’m seeking advice on optimizing the performance of my WordPress blog and would appreciate your insights. Currently, my blog is hosted on GoDaddy with a server located in Singapore. Here’s a bit of context about my situation:

  • Visitor Demographics:
    • 40% from the US
    • 25-30% from India
    • The rest are from various Asian and European countries
  • Current Performance:
    • With Cloudflare caching enabled, the site performs well.
    • Without caching, it loads in less than 1 second in India but takes 2-6 seconds in the US and Europe.
  • Concerns:
    • I’ve heard that GoDaddy isn’t ideal for WordPress due to the lack of LiteSpeed caching.
    • I’m considering switching to a different web host and am debating which server location would be optimal.

Given the performance issues and the geographical distribution of my visitors, should I:

  1. Choose a server based in the US? This might improve performance for my largest visitor base, but I’m concerned it might worsen performance for users in India.
  2. Opt for a server in Europe or Singapore? Since these locations are somewhat central, they might offer a balanced performance across regions, but I’m not sure how effective they’ll be compared to a US server.

I understand that Cloudflare caching helps, but I’m looking for a solution that ensures good performance even without caching. Any recommendations or personal experiences you could share will be greatly appreciated

Before deciding on a country, consider the following factors: Target Audience, which establishes your target audience’s primary geographical location. If your website’s primary audience is in a given country or region, hosting it in or near that place can deliver faster loading times and a better user experience. Website Purpose: Consider the purpose of your website. If you’re running a personal blog or portfolio, the location may not matter as much. However, for an e-commerce site or a business that serves a specialized market, hosting in the target country can be beneficial.

About India, you’re kind of stuck between a rock and a hard place.
I would most likely continue to live in Singapore and keep improving your website.

According to some, most visitors are from the United States. Consequently, hosting a website on a US server would be preferred. A content delivery network would be used if you wanted to reach a worldwide audience, making the United States a preferred place for a Web Hosting Server.
