My client recently switched website hosting companies and updated the MX records. Now, Yahoo email accounts are the only ones not receiving emails from their custom domain. Emails sent to Gmail and other accounts go through fine, but not to Yahoo.
Is there a specific requirement for Yahoo Mail? I know Yahoo can be very particular.
Presumably, Yahoo! is skeptical about the new IP address. Use an SMTP forwarding provider or wait it out. Verify that any PTR records have also been updated.
Check mxtoolbox for the domain and see if anything jumps out.
Yahoo Mail may filter incoming emails based on their own spam filtering algorithms. You should check the spam/junk folder in the Yahoo Mail account to see if the emails are being delivered there instead.
I advice reaching out to Yahoo’s support because it might provide specific insights or assistance especially if the issue persists and emails are not being delivered to Yahoo Mail accounts after DNS propagation.
In managing website transitions and email configurations for clients, I’ve encountered similar issues with Yahoo Mail’s stringent email filtering and authentication requirements. When updating MX records, especially during hosting changes, it’s crucial to ensure that SPF, DKIM, and DMARC records are correctly set up and validated. Yahoo Mail often requires these records to be properly configured to accept emails from new servers and domains. Additionally, checking for any IP or domain reputation issues that might trigger Yahoo’s spam filters can help diagnose why emails aren’t reaching Yahoo accounts while others are unaffected. Verifying these settings and possibly contacting Yahoo Mail support for assistance with whitelisting or troubleshooting can resolve the issue effectively.
