I’m setting up a simple blog with articles and images—nothing too heavy.
I’ve been researching WordPress hosting, but it seems like every provider gets a lot of negative reviews, especially the cheaper ones. Maybe that’s because a lot of people here are developers or agencies that need more power for client sites.
I’ve used Bluehost before, and while it seems to be the most hated, I haven’t had any issues personally.
Anyway, what’s the best affordable and reliable hosting for a WordPress site today?
To make things easier:
Budget: $10/month max
Users: Worldwide, mostly USA, Europe, and Australia
Type of site: Basic WordPress blog
Traffic: Just starting, aiming for 10k monthly visitors in the first year
VPS experience: None
Did I check recommended hosts? Yes, but many have high renewal prices
@Brayden
I’ve set an alert to switch hosts before my renewal. My site has gone down randomly while I was writing posts, which makes me think it happens even more when I’m not looking.
Did you check the sidebar recommendations? Nixihost, Krystal, and Zume all keep their renewal prices the same as the sign-up rate—no crazy price hikes.

Yeah, I checked, but some renewal rates were still higher than I wanted to pay. Thinking about KnownHost instead.
I’m in the same boat. My site is on GoDaddy, and while it works fine, the renewal price jumped from $100 to $269. The ‘free’ email also turned out to be just for the first year.
I’ve been searching for a better host, but every option seems to have mixed reviews.
If you find a good host that includes a CDN, cPanel, and doesn’t cost a fortune, let me know!

I went with KnownHost for three years. A little more than I wanted to spend, but so far, I’m impressed. Their support is really fast.
Does KnownHost handle updates for you, or do you have to do them manually? Also, has your site ever gone down?
SetraHost has been great for me, and I’ve moved a lot of my clients there. Bluehost might have worked for you so far, but most people run into issues eventually.
