I’m helping a mate transfer his domain to IONOS, and I’m stuck. He’s leaving his old site manager, probably for cost reasons, and I’ve followed the steps to transfer his .co.uk domain. I’ve set the IPS tag to IONOS, but when I try to initiate the transfer, I keep getting an error message saying the TLD isn’t supported. I’ve checked the domain name, and it’s definitely correct. Has anyone else run into this with IONOS?
Did you contact IONOS about it? They should be able to help. If they don’t, there are other UK registrars you can try. Porkbun’s a solid option.

Not yet, I was hoping to sort it out on my own first. I’ll give them a ring if I don’t get any answers here.

I had something similar happen once. I ended up calling support, and they fixed it from their end. Might be worth a shot.
Are you sure you’re on the UK version of the IONOS site? Maybe you’re accidentally using the US one.
That error sounds like you’re entering the wrong domain name. Is there an extra ‘uk’ in the address? If it’s still giving you trouble, you can contact Nominet directly to get the domain transferred.

Nah, I’ve checked it about a hundred times. It’s definitely just .co.uk. I don’t know why it’s adding an extra ‘uk’ when I submit it. I’ll try reaching out to support and see what they say.
Do you really need a uk.co.uk domain? .co.uk should be enough to mark it as UK-based. Is the .co.uk one not available?

I’m not even trying for a uk.co.uk domain, just a plain .co.uk one. But when I submit the form, it adds an extra ‘uk’ and says the TLD isn’t supported. I’m completely stumped.

Sounds like you’ll need to call them and get it sorted out.

Yeah, looks like that’s what I’ll have to do. I was just hoping someone here might’ve seen the same issue before so I wouldn’t have to jump through support hoops.
