I’ve been with SiteGround for 8 years, but their recent changes to support (basically none) have pushed me to find a new host. When my site is down, I lose around 80k visitors a day, so I need reliable support.
Does anyone have experience with A2 Hosting? Specifically, I’d like to know how intuitive their backend is and how helpful their support is. I’ll be using a dedicated server, if that makes a difference.
Also, feel free to suggest other hosting services. Thanks!
The only problem I’ve had with A2 is that their “dev access” lets developers see your personal and billing info. The credit card number is partially hidden, but it still feels wrong.
I’ve been running over 10 WordPress sites on one A2 shared hosting plan, no issues. I also use Cloudflare to help with load since most of the sites are pretty static.
I’ve had a great experience with A2, but I’m on a plan that costs about $100/month. I get cPanel and fully managed service, and they handle all the admin work for me. It’s been reliable for over a year now.
I’m not sure how their cheaper plans compare though.

A2 isn’t great. They’ve had some bad PR, poor uptime, and misleading practices.
Who do you recommend instead?
We use Cloudways but aren’t happy with them either. We’re looking at Hetzner or IONOS for a dedicated managed server. Not sure how their support handles applications, though.
I have 50 sites on A2 (shared), 100 on SiteGround (VPS), and 15 on WPX. I’m moving away from SiteGround because their support and performance have gone downhill.
A2’s support is solid. A few months ago, they had some issues, probably with their ticketing system, but lately, they’ve been great. They dig deeper into issues than SiteGround and offer some light dev support. Response times are usually within 15 minutes. For the price, I’d recommend A2.
WPX’s support is on another level. Their agents are developers who will help with anything—malware, WordPress problems, speed issues. Their site speeds are amazing too.
I’ve been let down by SiteGround a few times this year. In April, our site was down for two days, and they just said, “We don’t know”—even though it was their server’s fault.
This latest issue was the final straw. Their support is now worse than just searching Google, and they’ve made it clear they don’t really want to help anymore.
WPX sounds great too, so I’ll compare them with A2. We don’t need support often, but when we do, it’s important to know it’s reliable.
