I’m setting up my website and need recommendations for reliable hosting. Considering Bluehost, Pressable, and Hostinger.
I don’t need a million features, fancy pricing, or trending services. Just looking for stable, secure, and trusted hosting that lets me manage my site however I want.
Edit: Can you explain why you’re recommending or avoiding certain hosts? WordPress recommends some, but I’d like to hear real experiences before deciding. I’ll be handling most troubleshooting myself, so customer support is flexible.
@Valentina
WordPress ‘recommends’ Bluehost because they get paid millions to do so. Bluehost is owned by a huge conglomerate (Newfold Digital) that buys up hosting brands, oversells their servers, and then guts customer service.
They look cheap upfront, but their renewal rates skyrocket, and their support is mostly scripted replies and upsells. Their servers are also overloaded, meaning your site could slow down or go offline often.
@Valentina
Yep. Bluehost is on every ‘best hosting’ list because they have a massive affiliate program. They spend more on marketing than on their servers or support.
Honestly, you should test for yourself. Hosting companies all have marketing gimmicks, and reviews can be unreliable. If a host offers a 30-day refund, try it out and see how it performs before committing.
Avoid Bluehost. Their basic plans are painfully slow, and their control panel is buggy. I switched to Hostinger and have had no issues. Their shared and cloud hosting plans offer great performance for the price.
Just a heads-up: Hostinger’s built-in CDN isn’t great. Use Cloudflare Free instead for better speed.
I used SiteGround for years—great performance, but their renewal prices are high. If you want something more affordable, Asphostportal has been solid, with stable pricing and good uptime.
I used Cloudways, but they started sneaking in hidden charges. Switched away after they randomly billed me for Kubernetes (which I wasn’t even using). SiteGround is a safer bet.
If you’re semi-technical, AWS Lightsail has WordPress instances for $5/month—decent performance and full control.
Been using Cloudphant for 6 months now, hosting multiple WordPress sites. No issues so far, and their support has been great. Previously used Cloudways, but they didn’t care about customer issues.
IONOS (formerly 1&1 Hosting) has been reliable for me for 20 years. They offer unlimited databases and email on most plans, but they cap uploaded files at 260,000 per account.
If you don’t plan on uploading a ton of small files, they’re worth considering.
I’ve been a WordPress developer for 5 years and have used tons of hosting services. Hostinger is my go-to for affordable, reliable hosting. Easy setup, good security, decent support.
