Hello everyone I just bought a.jp name from GoDaddy. To be honest, this is an extremely valuable domain name. Customer support was “astonished” also that I could have purchased it for so less money.
Even though customer support told me it was mine and I have the transaction history with the payment in my account, it has not been posted to the My Products page after nearly a day. I have never had to wait this long, but I think.jp domains take a while to process.
Because of how high the intrinsic value is, I genuinely fear that someone from GoDaddy “took” the name from me or changed it to make me regret buying it.
It’s unlikely someone from GoDaddy intentionally took the domain name from you. More often, what happens is that GoDaddy may have sold you a domain that isn’t actually available for registration. This happens because registrars like GoDaddy rely on connecting with registries to check domain availability. If GoDaddy used an outdated list or if the domain was reserved by the registry and not for sale, they might mistakenly sell it to you. Given the delay in getting the domain into your account, GoDaddy will likely realize the issue and refund your money soon. You can verify if the domain is truly available by checking its Whois information, but it’s probable that it won’t be purchasable elsewhere either.
Based on the search results, it seems that the issue of a GoDaddy domain not showing up in the “My Products” section for over 24 hours is a relatively common problem. The most likely explanation is that GoDaddy has sold me a domain that is not actually available for registration. This can happen if GoDaddy is using an outdated list of available domains or if the domain is reserved by the registry and not for sale. While the domain may still be listed as available in the Whois database, GoDaddy has likely already submitted the request to purchase it, but that transaction has not been finalized yet. This process can take up to 48 hours for the domain to properly propagate and show up in my account. In the meantime, GoDaddy will likely realize the issue and refund my money. The best thing for me to do is to be patient and wait it out, rather than worrying that someone at GoDaddy has “stolen” the domain. This appears to be a fairly routine glitch in GoDaddy’s domain registration process.
