Hey guys, I’m having a blast with Tumblr but running into a bit of a snag. I’ve been trying to set up a custom domain for my blog through GoDaddy and followed all the steps, but I keep getting an error message. Anyone else had this issue? I’m using the free plan on Tumblr—could that be the problem?
I’ve been using Tumblr for years, and I’ve never had any issues with custom domains. Even on the free plan, you should be able to connect a domain. Have you tried checking your DNS settings? Make sure they’re pointing to the correct servers. Also, double-check that you’ve entered the correct domain name in your Tumblr settings.
Yooooh…I had the same Tumblr’s custom domain nightmare some weeks ago, I struggled with this for hours…I tried everything I could think of, but I couldn’t just get my domain to work. I even contacted Tumblr support, but they were not very helpful. I haven’t tried again. I’m now starting to think it’s a bug in their system
Have you tried using a different browser? Sometimes, browser caching can cause issues. Also, make sure your domain is registered for at least a few days before trying to connect it to Tumblr. This can help prevent DNS propagation problems.
While you can technically use a custom domain with the free plan, you might encounter some limitations. Consider upgrading to a paid plan. It offers more features and might provide better support for custom domains.
Can you share a screenshot of the error message you’re getting? That might give us a better idea of what’s going wrong. Also, have you tried connecting a different domain to see if it works?
You can contact Tumblr help Center…They might help you faster
Have you checked the domain’s DNS settings for any errors? Sometimes, a simple typo can cause problems. Remember, DNS propagation can take a few hours. Be patient and give it some time to update.
