Hey everyone… I’m kinda stuck here and could really use some advice. So, I’ve been using GoDaddy for the longest time, but I recently made the switch to IONOS because of their sweet deal. Now, I’m trying to connect my Webspace to a specific directory, but I’m lost in the process. I’m not super techy, so if anyone could break it down for me in simple terms, that’d be awesome. Thanks in advance…
Go to your IONOS Control Panel, find the “Webspace” option, and then you should see an option to set the target directory. Just make sure it’s the right path (like /yourdirectoryname).
One thing to check is if you’ve got the right FTP details. If those are off, it’ll mess with the whole connection. Double-check the credentials they gave you, and make sure you’re not accidentally targeting a subfolder or something. Also, it wouldn’t hurt to clear your cache before testing again.
Man, IONOS can be tricky with this. I actually found it easier to set things up using an FTP client like FileZilla. Have you tried that yet? You just connect through FTP, find the Webspace folder, and drag and drop your files into the directory you want. Might save you some headaches mate…
If all else fails, don’t hesitate to hit up IONOS support. I know, I know, who likes waiting on hold, right? But honestly, they’ve been super helpful to me when I was trying to figure out a DNS issue. Just tell them exactly what you’re trying to do, and they’ll guide you step by step.
Just to throw another option out there, have you considered using a CMS like WordPress? I mean, it depends on what you’re doing, but WordPress can handle directories really easily, and it connects to IONOS Webspace without much fuss. Plus, tons of tutorials online if you’re ever stuck…
You’ve got some solid advice here already, but I’ll add one more thing: if you’re migrating from another host like GoDaddy, sometimes old DNS settings can hang around and mess things up. Make sure your domain is properly pointing to IONOS servers, and maybe flush your DNS cache just to be sure. That tripped me up when I first switched,
