Transferring domain to GoDaddy

Hi everyone,

a particular DNS query before moving the domain registration to GoDaddy. My client wants to switch to GoDaddy from a nearby ISP. I have already switched email providers for him.

I have a query regarding DNS, which I may ask in two different ways:

Should I move the domain registration (exclusively) to GoDaddy, how would it impact the NS servers?

  • Before transferring the name, do I still need to set up DNS hosting on GoDaddy using all of the current settings?

According to GoDaddy tech support, switching the registrant should be all that is needed to keep things operating normally. I am anxious and would like some advice.

Transferring a domain to GoDaddy will change its name servers. You’ll need to update them at your current provider with GoDaddy’s new ones. Setting up DNS hosting on GoDaddy is optional, but convenient if you use their other services. GoDaddy’s right, transferring the domain itself should keep things working, but double-check instructions and consider a backup plan to minimize website downtime.

You run the risk of being caught in the 60-day no transfer restriction following a registrant change if you move to a different account (account change). Therefore, unless you already have an answer in the other topic, which I did not read, I would carefully consider that.
Whether you change the name servers or not is irrelevant if you don’t have any DNS entries. If it’s parked at GoDaddy, it will remain parked there following the account switch (maybe on various name servers). If you were using email or the site was active, for example, they are asking if you wanted to retain your DNS records in place.

Regardless of whether this box is ticked, it should have
