Where do you all host your side projects now?

A few years back, I used Heroku’s free tier for my side projects. It was a nice option since I could keep a small project running for $0/month, though it had a 6-hour limit per day. Once the project grew, I’d just switch to a paid plan.

It looks like Heroku’s free option is gone now, so I’m wondering if there are other good (and cheap) places to host for free or close to it, especially for just the first few weeks.

PS: My latest project is built in Rails, if that matters.

If you’re looking for hosting options, check out the providers recommended here on the forum or see the sidebar for more suggestions. Also, if you can include a bit more info about your needs, it might help others offer advice.

I’m hosting locally and securing it with Cloudflared.

Oracle Cloud has a good free tier. You can set up a free ARM server there or host in object storage with Cloudflare.

I’m on the $6 monthly plan with Nixihost, which includes a lot of features that other providers charge extra for. They don’t have a free plan, but with their 30-day money-back guarantee, you can test it out risk-free. They even offer free migration, which made switching easy for me.
